Adoption Pending. Rush is an approximately 4 month old (DOB 7/8/2021) male border collie with a low-maintenance smooth coat and a charming personality. He was surrendered to rescue because his people realized he wasn't well suited to apartment life, and now he's looking for a home that has the space, the energy and the love to help him be all he can be. Rush has had most of his puppy shots and will be adopted out with a contract to make sure he is neutered at an appropriate age.

Rush is a real love bug as well as being athletic and smart. Plus, he’s “almost housebroken!” His foster mom reports he goes all night long without any accidents. He gets along with other dogs and doesn’t seem to care about indoor cats, although he might be tempted to chase them if they ran.

He is a very active boy and is still figuring out what all he enjoys in life. He’s very good about being confined and is great at amusing himself with toys and bones. (In fact the sounds that come from his room are absolutely hilarious.) He doesn’t like being separated from the household action but accepts it with good grace, and doesn’t whine or fuss much. He’s really quite quiet, sleeping most of the night and playing quietly with his toys between catnaps. Like any puppy his age, Rush is beginning to teethe, and needs to be watched when he’s around anything he might chew inappropriately.

This little guy probably hasn’t had much opportunity to run free in the past, but in his foster home he’s discovering the joys of having a yard to play in. It’s a hoot to watch him get the zoomies, chase balls, and do strafing runs to try and get his foster brother to play. His herding instinct is also starting to bloom. He is very interested in pantlegs and feet, and is already circling his foster mom and adopting a stalking posture when playing with other dogs. He's already retrieving and tugging. Sports dog candidate!

Rush’s potential is unlimited. All he needs now is an active person or family that can give him the mental and physical exercise and love he needs to thrive. No apartments for this pup!
