Hi there! My name is "Sweet" Megan and I am a seven year old female Border Collie/Kelpie mix. I am spayed, vaccinated, house trained, know commands and very healthy. I probably weigh about 50 pounds.
I am looking for a new forever home. I was adopted five years ago from a shelter and here I am again needing your help. I have had a wonderful life with two great owners living outside Baker City with lots of room to run and play. Oh yes, I do like chasing ground squirrels.
My "man" owner has developed a serious illness and requires a lot of attention. My "Mom" needs to care for him and feels guilty that she does not have quality time to give to me.
I have only been with adults, and know nothing about children, so I am looking for an active family without children and a secure fenced yard. I have never had to worry about a fence in my life, but require a secure one now.
I do get along with other dogs that are smaller or my size, I am fearful of very large dogs. I also have a cat living with us and we get along well.
I walk very well on a leash, know come, stay, sit, lie down. I am a quiet dog and do very little barking unless really excited about something important.
I am really comfortable with women, but fearful of big men with big cowboy hats, or real deep voices. For some reason, I am very fearful of knives, kitchen and hunting knives. It must be from my first two years with first owner.
I sleep indoors on my bed on the bedroom floor. No human bed for me. I really like going for rides in the car, or for a special treat, I love to go for rides in our big Ford pickup. I hear the roar of the engine and an open door and I am in for a ride.
If you would like to learn more about me, please call Best Friends of Baker, Inc. at 541-519-7387, or go to bestfriendsofbaker.org for an adoption application and send it in. I am sure there is someone out there who would like to adopt an older family housepet and companion. I am ready to go to a new forever home today.
