Just thought I'd drop you a few picture of Heffer (now known mostly as Heff). She's happy and healthy and full of pep. We're just thrilled to have her with us. Our neighbour has an autistic 8 year old grandson and he comes bounding over to play with Heff every time he visits. According to his mom, Heff is all he can talk about - the best dog they've ever seen with him.
She's also made friends in the corporate world - Mike took her to work with him last week and she charmed his entire office. They keep asking when she's coming back!
December 2002 Update
My new beautiful bride, Jean, and I were fortunate enough to adopt Hef a couple years ago. We realize that we haven't given you an update for a while so thought we'd drop you a quick note to let you know that she is fantastic.
This summer she was the one of three special invitees to our very private wedding ceremony (along with my brother and Jean's sister). She managed a cool river swim while remaining dignified throughout our outdoor ceremony.
She's also joined some of our adventure racing training. Most recently she's joined some of my biking legs that require a lot of up hill and technical downhill riding where she really is an ATD (All Terrain Dog) through the forest. She continues to enjoy running with me and is one of the prime support team members on race days.
She spends a couple days a week with her friends through Dash Hound Pet Services (a local dog walker) where they also spend time running through the forests of the North Shore. She loves her ritual visits from her new friend Ralph (the dog handler). I think it's because he not only takes her walking / running but also hands out delicious treats. She's really looking forward to Christmas this year and has already put on the reindeer ears (well, actually she wasn't too excited about the ears but she is looking forward to another Christmas!)
