A mature fellow with a big heart and lots of love to give. After being in a bad situation for the first year of is life, Milo has been in a very loving, stable home for the past 7 years. Unfortunately changes in is home have made it necessary for Milo to again look for a place to call his very own. Milo enjoys walks (but not too long), hanging inside with his people and car rides. Although he is the complete package as far as housetrained and well mannered, Milo is missing a back leg, his only "flaw". Milo does good with dogs and cats and loves people. He would like a home where he gets to be YOUR dog. If anyone deserves another chance at happiness, it is Milo. Milo is neutered, up to date on routine vaccinations including rabies. His adoption includes a microchip plus registration in the 24PetWatch pet recovery service and 30 days of pre-paid pet health insurance. Althletic, loving, funny as all get out! His personality is truly endearing and he is so ready to please. The most amazing thing about tis guy is that after 9 weeks in a kennel (he was held in a neglect case) he has not lost ANY of his positive out look on life. He is VERY eager to please, smart too. He went straight from the kennel to the Lake County Fair and charmed everyone there. He loved kids and other dogs and greeted everyone who stopped by the OOHS booth. While there, he started learning how to lay down and roll over. Stewie can jump straight up in the air like he has springs in his legs......can you say "frisbee dog". He has stolen our hearts for sure. At his foster home, Stewie is learning what a crate is and actually doing quite well. He is out with is foster parents dogs (all 7 of them) and has absolutely no issues, fitting in just fine. Stewie loves fetch and loves throwing the ball himself just as much as chasing after it. He has been loose with the cats inside and so far so good. He settles down nicely once inside, laying right by you wherever you are. Stewie is going to make someone a great little companion. Stewie is neutered, up to date on routine vaccinations including rabies. His adoption includes a 24PetWatch microchip plus registration in the 24PetWatch pet recovery service and 30 days of pre-paid pet health insurance. She is well started on becoming a great pet or THERAPY dog but she is still a Border Collie and will need lots of mental stimulation and exercise (swimming will be excellent for her). WORST CASE SCENARIO- She may eventually need the limb removed.

Spring cannot stay on the farm as we cannot support a non-working dog. She will require a home that can and will commit to taking care of her medical needs.

Spring has a great start- She is crate trained, leash training is in progress, has been riding in the truck with Bill at work, playing with kids and other dogs at the ranch (Bill's work) and loves to just hang out. Spring is a SWEET HEART. She has had her first set of vaccinations and two sets of dewormings. (another set this weekend will be given)

Spring's adopton fee is $250.00 which will be refunded to you when you send us copies of veterinary paperwork indicating that she has been spayed and that you have had your own vet or specialist evaluate her condition.

For more information, please contact billstephmorris@aol.com after you have filled out an application. Only parties with border collie experience and good veterinary references will be considered.
***

will not be adopted out as a strictly outdoor dog as dogs need to be
indoors where it is safe and warm, preferably with someone home during
the day or with another dog to keep him company. A fenced yard is
required. Getting a puppy is a 10-15 year commitment. If you want a
dog that is completely house trained and already has some obedience
training, please consider an adult dog.

Please

He is easy to handle and likes toys. He is neutered. The fact that he settles nicely in the house, is friendly to everyone and loves to ride in the car would make him a good companion. This fellow is one FAST dog! He apparently has herding tendencies - just ask the other dogs and the cat. The cat however, likes him and will lay down and roll on his back and playfully swat at him. When playing running games in the yard Briskie often heads off the other dog(s) and if in competition for a ball, has been known to nip them during the chase. For the most part the others seem to take it in stride, either because he isn't nipping hard or because they're BC's too and don't mind too much. If one of the older dogs does discipline him he backs off and is not so pesky. He is very inventive and will play games with toys if he's by himself. He knows "down", "sit" and "come". He is walking nicely on a leash. He allows brushing and bathing. He is apparently housebroken and settles nicely in the house. He will need supervision however, as he is interested in countertops. In a short training session he learned to jump through a hoop on command and is learning to go over the agility A frame with a touch at the bottom. He still needs a little help on the touch but the A frame did not phase him at all. This boy would be a great agility dog or with some training I think he would be a good herding candidate. His adoption fee is $200.00. Stacey Gehrman is fostering Briskie in Ontario, OR. You may contact me after 4 pm weekdays or on weekends at 541 889 2018 or email me at birchcreekbc@gmail.com

>

Chico is a very loving, sweet boy who gets along well with most other dogs and cats. He comes from life on a small farm and has not been exposed to urban life. Due to this he is scared of noises that are strange to him or seem threatening, such as shotguns firing in the distance, fire crackers a block away, or loud voices. He was very unhappy at changing homes and will take a very patient, understanding, and tuned in adopter. Even in a quiet country setting, a very secure yard with no opportunity for accidental escape will be an absolute necessity until he is bonded and trusts his new owner which may take some time.

He has been learning to play with toys, something which he did not recognize at first as anything that had to do with a dog. He now plays keep away with the other dogs and runs with a rope toy. He walks on a leash very nicely and in the house prefers to lie right next to you. He seems to prefer women to men but he has bonded well with my husband. He really loved his previous owner.

Chico is feeling more secure now and is learning many new things. I have been working with him on learning to jump over bar jumps and he does that with ease although I sometimes think he wonders why he's asked to do this. He is learning to sit before he is given his meals. He has learned to retrieve a ball and is best friends with my BC girl.

This week, June 7, he has decided that my husband is a really good guy and now asks him to rub his ears and pet him. We started working on weave poles today - he may prove to be a quick study at this. We have found that he really. really wants to chase a 4 wheeler. When it is parked he will go up to it every once in a while and bite at the tire! We don't allow him to chase after it. He does like to help with yard work and is easy to have around. August 1: Chico has been retrieving quite well now although he needs work on bringing it all the way to you, he sometimes drops it about six feet away. He gets along better with female dogs rather than males, although he is making friends more easily.
As you can see from the above journal entries, Chico has come a long way. He now comes to my husband when called (see picture) and is a loving friend. He is much happier now and although he will need further training and socialization I believe he can now actively look for a forever home. Someone who has an understanding of Border Collie behavior and characteristics and can devote love and time and kind training will be rewarded with a wonderful friend.

If you would like to know more about Chico please complete an application. His adoption fee is $150.00. (I will also ask you to complete an IDAWG application) and you may email me at birchcreekbc@gmail.com or call after 4 pm weekdays 541 889-2018.
