Champ is 3 years old and weighs 48 lbs.  Champ is a PROJECT.  For successful adoption, he literally needs a saint, a sage, and an expert border collie handler.  He has been doing extensive unlearning of the past and has become almost a normal dog.

He is highly excitable and reactive.  He chases shadows, light reflections, and any moving things.  Even a small stimulus is too much for him.  Any thing new and any new sound must be introduced slowly one at a time, for he has to know if that is safe.  He barks at strange people and dogs, so no street walking or dog parks.  His hikes and walks are done exclusively in the back country.  He is very fit and can easily hike 10 hours.  He likes to fetch a ball and stick.  After exercise, he calms down and takes a nap.  Daily exercise is a must to keep him calm and to keep you sane.

Champ should not be left alone.  When bored and alone, he will chew and swallow undigestable things.  He swallowed a toy tire that got stuck in small intestine and second time swallowed a knot which again obstructed small intestine.  He had an emergency exploratory enterotomy, TWICE.   As long as he is with his person or in a crate, he is fine.  Any small objects that may cause obstruction should be removed from the floor.  And his person must be willing and able to afford medical expenses should an unforeseen emergency occur.

Champ crates well.  If he is overexcited, tell him "time out." He will go into his crate on his own.  He had a slow supervised introduction to the dogs here.  Now he gets along well with them.  Mostly he is not interested in them, except during tug, but in following his person.  Once preferring to be alone in the garage, he has become a Velcro, always following you whereever you go.  He rides well in a car.  He can be left alone in the car while running errands.

Champ graduated summa cum laude from Agility class.  He is highly biddable and thrives on interacting with his leader.  Show him what you want and give him a treat.  He will learn in no time anything you teach him.

Ideal home for him is in a quiet countryside with a retired active person who hikes regularly in the back country.  He is not suitable for city life.

Champ is house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.  Requesting adoption donation $200.  kaleetanpeak@gmail.com  425-502-0176
